Hi Graham, sorry I forgot to put in my telephone number. It is 01372 271767, I will be around all this weekend if you want to call or even come and see the car, but I will need some notice to get it out from the back of the workshop so that you can at least see it.
    Regards, Mike

Hi Graham, thanks for the reply. I think that my T492 would be absolutely perfect for your intentions. It started life as a Sports 2000, but was later converted to a VW Karmann Ghia Silhouette Special Saloon, with a BDT and and about 500bhp! It was raced in that form for several years and achieved considerable success (and notoriety), being the fastest thing in its class by a considerable margin. It has March F2 rear uprights (I think) with huge F1 style inboard AP rear brakes, and the front has special custom made uprights, again with huge F1 Brembo brakes. It sits on big magnesium centre lock F1 wheels.
I bought it about 5 years ago as a rolling chassis with the intention of doing just what you propose, and did a lot of the basic refurbishment, as well as sourcing a new set of bodywork from Chris Fox, and a slightly damaged second hand set off a sprint car from Jersey. I have several sports prototype rear wings which would be suitable, in ally and carbon, plus a set of ex Jordan F1 wheels which could be made to fit quite easily. I was going to fit either a normally aspirated Cosworth YB on slide throttle bodies or a big turbo RS500 lump, both of which are available, brand new and ready to go, with an uprated FT200 box. There is not much more needing done to finish the car, it needs plumbing (I have a selection of radiators) and wiring, but as is typical with many of these projects, I have too many other cars and not enough time. I do not have any meaningful photos at the moment, as the car is at the back of my workshop, and not immediately accessible. It would be best if you could come and have a look and we can chat about the options.
With regard to price, it is really difficult to know what is realistic, as there are so many options, but I guess that around £9000 for the rolling chassis, with all the bits and pieces, and 2 sets of wheels, less engine and gearbox, would be in the right sort of area, but as I said, come and see for yourself and have a chat. I am in Surrey, near J9 of the M25. With regard to your Impreza, I am not really looking for any more cars at the moment, in fact I am trying to reduce the size of my collection at the moment, but I would be interested in having a look.
    Regards, Mike

Hello Mike: Thanks for the speedy reply. I love 'bitza' cars (like my 911 is) and the history sound great. The plan is sports Libre on the hills, so anything goes. The plot is to find a sports project for 2008 to race in 2009.

This sunday and next weekend we are not racing at all, so can come down to see the car. I live close to Wolverhampton (J10 M6) so an easy run. I will come down in the Impreza if the car is of interest, but there are some good details to see on piston heads web site.
I will post the thread later as this site is desparatly slow at the moment.
If you have any pics, anything will do to get a flavour of the car.

    Graham.
